The Technology Enabled Care (TEC) Programme includes a workstream to move Telecare services onto digital technology. FarrPoint has been supporting this workstream for some time, previously being responsible for producing reports into the potential benefits of Digital Telecare to users and service providers, and for developing a suggested implementation approach. Following on from this work, FarrPoint was appointed to complete an international “Landscape Review” of Digital Telecare in order to identify international developments and lessons learned to inform and shape Scotland’s approach to implementing Digital Telecare.
FarrPoint completed this international review using multiple data sources, using primary and secondary research. Identified projects were contacted to obtain detailed information on their experience with digital telecare and importantly to understand their relevance to the position within Scotland.
FarrPoint’s work established the state of Digital Telecare internationally and showed that whilst telecare developments were being completed overseas, the work being completed in Scotland was leading edge, and considered ahead of other countries. Where work was being completed internationally, contacts were made in order that the Scottish projects can maintain liaison and share best practice as projects progress. FarrPoint continues to work with Government on the implementation of Digital Telecare.
