Vets Now is a UK pet healthcare company, founded to revolutionise the way emergency veterinary care was provided outside of normal surgery hours. Today, the company provides this trusted service to more than 1,000 veterinary practices across the UK, from 53 dedicated out-of-hours clinics and three 24/7 pet emergency hospitals. In total, they treat around 100,000 small animals every year and in peak times their staff answer around five queries an hour from worried pet owners. They are home to the leading specialists in the field of pet emergency and critical care and provide care 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Following a period of rapid expansion, the organisation’s IT systems required review in order to support the rate of change and growth within the business and to ensure their effectiveness and capacity to support the strategic aims.
Development of the review followed a structured methodology that considered current Business Strategy, goals and objectives, IT Systems, People and Processes.
Our work encompassed information gathering and baselining to understand current capabilities and future requirements, gap analysis to show where development is needed to allow the company to achieve its business goals and recommendations, and development of an associated action plan, with costs and resource considerations.
The assessment highlighted short and medium/long term actions to help further strengthen project management and supplier management and realign the IT function to best support the business through further expansion.
